When it comes to losing weight, it’s all about discipline. There are people out there who are not taking weight loss tactics seriously. It’s simply because losing weight isn’t that easy and a hard process. However, there are people from different parts of the world who can sustain themselves in terms of losing weight for good. If they can do it, so can you.
Let me tell you something about my journey of losing weight two years ago. I joined a weight loss program which allows me to get results in a short amount of time. It was a 30-day program that discipline was required in order to achieve the results I’ve wanted. My goal that time is to lose at least 15 to 20 pounds in a month.
I was so excited that time. I weighed around 180 pounds that time, and I can’t wait to get started. For the first ten days of following their program, I was in great progress. I did lose 5 pounds and was eager to go for some more. However, it all ends when I did something that was supposed to be avoided in my weight loss program. On my 12th day, my weight loss journey ended due to a simple mistake that I’ve committed, which needs me to start all over again. In other words, I’ve cheated and it’s a lesson learned for me.
4 things you should not do in your Weight loss journey
I have finally learned the four ways that would ruin your weight loss journey, and here are they.
Contents
1 – Wrong choice of foods
To tell you honestly, this is the reason why my weight loss journey came to a halt. My mom cooked my favorite meal which is roasted chicken, and I immediately took a bite of it along with a cup of rice. Although it has a great source of protein, but still it can contribute to weight gain and interrupts the body’s metabolism due to its fat content.
Here are some foods that you must avoid when losing weight:
- Carbohydrates (rice, bread, etc.)
- Chicken, pork, beef, etc.
- Ice cream, cake or any dessert
- Junk foods, chocolate bars, etc.
Instead, you can replace them with the following:
Once you change your eating habits with these alternatives, for sure you’re on your way to losing weight once and for all. If you still prefer to eat the “don’ts”, sorry to say that there’s no chance you’ll reach the weight goal you want.
2 – Intake of carbonated drinks
One of the reasons that you’re not losing weight is simply drinking carbonated drinks like soda. Drinking soda can contribute to weight gain or calorie increase due to its carbonated content. This is a big “no-no” when it comes to losing weight, and you should sacrifice and not be tempted to drink this one, especially when you’re in a mini-stop, grocery store or restaurant.(1)
Instead, you’re going to drink plenty of water when you’re in the process of losing weight. Alternatively, you can drink proven and effective protein shakes. Maybe some of them are completely hyping the customers, but others are legitimate. It’s also proven that lemon water can promote weight loss too.
3 – Inconsistent regular exercise
In order for you to stay fit and lose weight, regular exercise is needed. However when you’re in the process of losing weight, you shouldn’t ignore or forget to exercise consistently. If you’re doing that, your body’s metabolism might be affected and not going to be in progress once and for all.
There are various kinds of regular exercises you can do to lose weight like this:
- Walking
- Jogging
- Stretching
- Cycling or outdoor biking
- Aerobics
- Dancing
- Yoga
And many others……
Not only regular exercises could help you lose weight, but there are other health benefits that you can get such as increased stamina, better metabolism, reduce risk of suffering chronic illnesses, etc. Check the top benefits of cycling.
4 – Oversleeping
It’s believed that oversleeping could lead to weight gain. There’s a higher risk of obesity when you sleep too much. Exercise and proper diet won’t help much if you choose to sleep beyond the regular sleeping hours.
One good advice for you is to sleep for at least six to eight hours daily. This is good enough for your body to gain better metabolism on top of regular exercise, eating non-fatty foods and avoiding soda. Not only oversleeping could disrupt your weight loss journey, but it may lead you to other complications such as heart disease and diabetes.
Final thoughts
It’s no excuse for you to do these things above when you’re in the process of reducing your weight as soon as possible. Just try to change your mindset in terms of seeing those temptations around you that could ruin your journey in losing weight. Now that you’ve learned these four ways, it’s time for you to take action and never hesitate in sharing this with your families and friends.
